Crafty Secrets February Linky Party & DT Challenge

It's the 1st Monday of the Month and that means it's time once again for another fun filled, inspirational Linky Party over at the Crafty Secrets Blog.
Today the DT is concentrating on
VALENTINE'S.
I have an altered canvas tutorial to share with you.
(warning ... Photo heavy post)
I have created this canvas as hubby's Valentine's Day gift along with a little box for candy (he's trying to loose some weight, don't want to tempt him too much, lol).

You can find some amazing papers/images/ephemera over at the Crafty Secrets Store ... CraftyVintageGirl
to create all sorts of wonderful Valentine's Day gift projects.  The team has made some amazing projects to help inspire you.  Just click on their name to get to their blogs where you'll find photos, tutorials ... all sorts of helpful hints.  We sadly say goodbye to DT member Rebekah who finds life has become more demanding of her time.  I wish her well and she will be missed!
Valentine's Day Altered Canvas

** TUTORIAL **
Step 1:
From the Vintage Valentine Kit, I printed several of the paper designs (onto plain printer paper) and some of the cute images onto 80# card stock.

STEP 2:
Using a white 8x10 canvas (JoAnn's on sale), I started tearing the various design papers I had printed, in different shapes & sized.  I simply started laying them down on the canvas top until I was happy with the design.

 STEP 3:
Once I had the papers torn & arranged as I wanted, I simply started attaching them to the canvas using Mod Podge and a sponge brush.

I use a wallpaper seam roller to go over the edges to be sure they are all adhered.

STEP 4:
Next I decided on my FOCUS ... which in this case was going to be a couple of photos of hubby and myself.  The main paper I have used to showcase the center photo is also from the Vintage Valentine Kit  and I have simply printed it at a smaller scale.  Using my swivel craft knife, I cut around the top of the heart on the paper and tucked the photo corner inside between the paper and the red mat backing AND under the words 'Love's Sweet Story' which is a part of this beautiful paper.

STEP 5:
From there I just started fussy cutting out pieces from the ephemera sheets included in this kit and positioning them where I thought they looked best.  I've popped up a few items, added narrow satin ribbon to a few others and VIOLA ... canvas complete!

NOW, WHAT WOULD VALENTINE'S DAY
BE WITHOUT CANDY???
Gift Box Punch Board
By simply printing out another sheet of design paper from this kit and using my new WeR Memory Keepers Gift Box Punch Board, I was able to create this cute little box which I will fill with red & silver wrapped Hershey kisses.

OKAY now it's YOUR turn!

You'll have one week to play along so be sure to pop on over to the Crafty Secrets Blog and post any sample you have created using ANY Crafty Secrets product(s) and receive a $6.00 coupon.
